SPRED-- Special Religious Development-- is a religious education program for students with disabilities that make it difficult for them to learn in our traditional classes.  Together with adult catechists, they form a small faith community that fosters and nourishes spiritual and personal growth.  By participating in SPRED, those with disabilities discover God's action, love and presence in their lives.  SPRED provides an opportunity for celebration and worship and teaches and prepares people with disabilities to receive Baptism, First Communion, First Reconciliation and Confirmation.

Placement in the SPRED class is initiated by the parents/guardians of the child in consultation with the Religious Education Team. The small student-to-catechist ratio in the SPRED class enables the student to learn about God in a supportive, tailored learning environment.

We meet twice a month from September through May, with an annual SPRED Mass and Celebration at the end of the year.

If you feel your child would benefit from our SPRED class but you are not certain, please contact Lynn Jones or Arlyn Agasen in the Religious Education Office at 703-451-8576 so we can discuss the best placement for your child.
